SNAP PAC System

Opto 22's SNAP PAC System is an integrated system of hardware and software for industrial control, remote monitoring, and data acquisition applications.

The SNAP PAC System makes it simpler to understand, select, buy, and apply an automation system. Here's all you need to do:

Choose software: PAC Project Basic or Professional
Choose a controller: rack-mounted or standalone
Choose brains: with high-speed digital functions or without
Choose I/O: analog, digital, serial, and special-purpose

I/O

Analog I/O modules handle devices that have a range of possible values. Temperature sensors and proportional valves are examples of analog devices.
Digital I/O modules handle devices that can be in only one of two states: either on or off (true or false, 0 or 1, running or stopped, etc.). Push buttons and LEDs are examples of digital devices.
SNAP Serial communication modules connect to serial devices via RS-232, RS-485/422, Profibus, or Wiegand protocol.
Brains are I/O processors that provide distributed control. Brains perform basic control functions such as on/off control, counting, and latching, as well as complex tasks such as PID control and temperature conversion.

Controllers

PAC Project Programmable Automation Controllers. SNAP PAC S-series and SNAP PAC R-series controllers are fully integrated with the PAC Project software suite.

Use the S-series standalone controller for larger projects or for multiple protocol, multiple network, or legacy support.
Use the R-series on-the-rack controller for localized automation, control, and data acquisition applications.
Compare SNAP PAC controller features
Legacy ioProject controllers are still available (but newer PAC Project controllers are more powerful, and some are less expensive).

Legacy FactoryFloor controllers are also still available if you need them, but we recommend using a SNAP PAC S-series controller as a migration path to newer PAC Project Professional software. The SNAP PAC S-series can connect to serial-based mistic I/O units as well as Ethernet-based I/O units, and PAC Project Professional includes utiltiies to help you convert OptoControl strategies and OptoDisplay projects to PAC Control and PAC Display.

Software

Develop control software, create human-machine interfaces (HMIs), connect to OPC clients, configure I/O, or develop your own custom software to communicate with our hardware.

Accessories

Operator terminals, adapter cards, and cables for your Opto 22 system.

Solid State Relays

Opto 22 offers a complete line of solid state relays, from the rugged 120/240-volt AC Power Series to the small-footprint MP Series, designed for mounting on printed circuit boards. All Opto 22 relays have 4,000 volts of optical isolation between the field side and the control side, and all are UL and CSA recognized.

Every Opto 22 solid state relay is subjected to full load test and six times the rated current surge both before and after encapsulation. We do not do statistical testing. All Opto 22 SSRs are guaranteed for life.

Optically isolated SSRs of all types. We invented them, and ours are still the best.
